<p>East Flatbush Library has anchored the Remsen Village neighborhood since 1945, when ten years of community advocacy brought a branch to the area between Brownsville and Rugby. The current building at 9612 Church Avenue was constructed in 1952, expanded in 1961, and then demolished and rebuilt in 1988. The 2023 LevenBetts renovation — the branch's most transformative upgrade — achieved LEED Silver certification and added three dedicated meeting rooms, a large multipurpose space, floor-to-ceiling windows, a laptop loan locker, and self-serve kiosks. The branch serves a predominantly African American and West Indian working-class community and is a cultural anchor on one of East Flatbush's busiest corridors.</p>
