<p>Homecrest Library opened on May 21, 1963 and has long been the intellectual crossroads of one of Brooklyn's most diverse residential neighborhoods. The branch sits in Community District 15, bordered by Kings Highway to the north and Avenue X to the south, serving a large population of immigrants from Russia, China, Pakistan, India, and Mexico. In recognition of that diversity, the branch maintains substantial Russian- and Chinese-language collections as well as materials in Urdu, Hebrew, and Spanish. The library actively serves four local schools and numerous daycare centers and nursery schools, with programming anchored by Toddler Time, Chess Club, and Teen Tech Time.</p>
