📖 About Mapleton Library

Mapleton Library traces its roots to the 1930s, when it operated out of smaller storefronts to meet the needs of the surrounding residential community. After two decades in temporary quarters, the branch opened at its current corner location at 60th Street and 17th Avenue in 1955. The branch sits in Mapleton, a quiet neighborhood nestled between Borough Park to the north and Bensonhurst to the south. In fall 2015, Mapleton was selected as one of only six Brooklyn Public Library branches to pilot expanded Sunday hours — a recognition of its strong community use and demand for weekend access.
