📖 About Ulmer Park Library

Ulmer Park Library opened as a sub-branch at 2172 Bath Avenue on November 2, 1951, serving residents of Bath Beach who previously had no nearby library. Demand grew quickly: it became a full branch on July 1, 1956, then moved to a larger air-conditioned building at 2602 Bath Avenue in July 1963. The branch was first in the entire Brooklyn Public Library system to implement a computer-networked circulation system, in 1988. The current building was renovated in 2016. Today the library is especially known for its military history program, supported by one of BPL's largest military history collections, and for its extensive Russian and Chinese language holdings that reflect the neighborhood's demographics.
