📖 About Soundview Library

The Soundview Library occupies a bright, one-story marble building on Soundview Avenue near Seward Avenue in the Soundview neighborhood of the southeastern Bronx — a community situated on the Clason Point peninsula where the Bronx River meets the East River. The neighborhood, roughly 65 percent Hispanic and 25 percent Black as of recent census data, developed into a residential area after the 1920 subway extension and is home to New York City's first NYCHA development, Clason Point Gardens (1941). The branch maintains a dedicated Spanish-language collection reflecting the local community, a meeting room available for groups, and a newly expanded Teen Center stocked with digital resources, tech equipment, and art materials. The library is partially accessible.
