📖 About Pelham Bay Branch

The Pelham Bay Branch opened in 1976 after sustained efforts by local community leaders who campaigned to bring library service to the Pelham Bay and Country Club sections of the Bronx. The branch occupies a spacious one-story brick building on the corner of Middletown Road and Jarvis Avenue, fully accessible and equipped with energy-efficient infrastructure as part of NYPL's sustainability commitments. It serves a large and diverse community in one of the borough's most desirable residential areas — a middle-class neighborhood with longstanding Italian American and Greek communities — located near the sweeping green spaces of Pelham Bay Park, New York City's largest park.
