📖 About Eastchester Library

The Eastchester Library opened in 1950 to serve the Baychester and Williamsbridge communities of the northeast Bronx, neighborhoods that grew rapidly after post-war housing development including the nearby Edenwald Houses, completed in 1953. The one-story building is fully accessible and houses adult, young adult, and children's collections under one roof. An on-site auditorium is available to community groups, a rarity among single-story branch libraries. The branch eliminated late fines and offers free Wi-Fi and public computers alongside its physical and digital collections.
