<p>Baychester Library sits at the heart of Co-op City, a 320-acre development in the northeast Bronx that opened between 1968 and 1973 and remains the largest housing cooperative in the United States, with more than 15,000 residential units and roughly 44,000 residents. The branch opened on March 13, 1973, timed to the completion of the surrounding complex, and has served the Co-op City community and neighboring Baychester households ever since. The fully accessible, modern facility offers dedicated spaces for adults, teens, and children, including an expanded Teen Center equipped through the city's Teens 360° initiative with digital resources, tech equipment, and art materials.</p>
