<p>Francis Martin Library honors Francis Martin (1879–1947), a Bronx judge who served as the first district attorney of Bronx County, embedding civic memory into the neighborhood it serves. The branch sits on University Avenue in University Heights, a hillside neighborhood in the west Bronx that took its name from New York University's Bronx campus, established in 1894 — the grounds are now home to Bronx Community College and its landmark Hall of Fame for Great Americans.
