📖 About Allerton Library

The Allerton Library has anchored the multiethnic Allerton neighborhood of the East Bronx since it opened on January 20, 1959. The three-level building places adult, reference, and young adult collections on the first floor, a dedicated children's room and story hour space on the second, and a 50-seat auditorium in the basement used for community programming. Allerton is one of the few NYPL branches to house a full Multimedia Studio offering audio production, podcasting, video recording, and green screen capabilities available to cardholders.
