📖 About Point Place Branch

Library service in Point Place traces back to 1926, when the Lucas County Library opened a branch in the former Point Place Junior High School. After Point Place was annexed into the city of Toledo in 1937, the county closed that library, and in 1938 the Toledo library system opened a branch in the same location. The branch moved in 1942 to rented quarters on Summit Street, where it remained until a dedicated building was constructed in 1964. Having outgrown that site, the branch re-opened at its present 117th Street location in 1999. Today it serves the waterfront Point Place community at the northern tip of Toledo, near the Maumee Bay and Ottawa River.
