📖 About Mott Branch
The Mott Branch is one of the most historically significant libraries in the Toledo Lucas County system. Its original building opened January 3, 1918 as one of the area's Carnegie-funded branches, designed by architect Bernhard Becker, and was named for Anna C. Mott, a Toledoan who left part of her estate to the library. That building was expanded in the mid-1970s and again in 1998. In June 2019 the library opened a new 19,000-square-foot building at Smith Park on Dorr Street—roughly double the size of the old structure and directly across from the original—next to Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School. The $9 million branch was built in just over a year and anchors the Dorr Street corridor as a modern community hub.
