📖 About West Pullman Branch
The West Pullman Branch is located on West 119th Street in the West Pullman neighborhood, a Far South Side community whose roots lie in the 1880s when workers sought housing independent of the nearby Pullman company town. The neighborhood shifted from a predominantly white industrial enclave to a primarily African American community by 1980, following deindustrialization. Today West Pullman is noted for hosting a 10-megawatt urban photovoltaic solar facility — the largest of its kind in the United States. The branch offers Digital Navigator tutoring, the Teacher in the Library homework program, and a parking lot with accessible spaces on both the north and west sides of the building.
