How museum passes work in Seattle

The Seattle Public Library lends a free Museum Pass: with your SPL library card you reserve free general admission to participating Seattle-area museums and cultural venues — around 18 in all, including the Burke Museum, Museum of Flight, MoPOP, Seattle Art Museum, Pacific Science Center, Seattle Aquarium, Woodland Park Zoo, Wing Luke Museum, MOHAI and the National Nordic Museum. The program is sponsored by The Seattle Public Library Foundation.

To use it, go to SPL’s Museum Pass page, sign in with your library-card number and PIN, and reserve a pass for a participating venue. You can hold one pass per calendar month, and new passes are released daily after 12 p.m.—so popular venues go quickly. Bring the printed or electronic pass plus a photo ID to the museum. Venues and rules change over time, so check the library’s own Museum Pass page for the current list.

Beyond the city, other Puget Sound systems run their own pass programs too: the King County Library System lends museum passes through an online reservation portal, and the Pierce County Library System lends them in cooperation with Tacoma and Puyallup public libraries. (Note that Sno-Isle Libraries lends only the Washington State Parks Discover Pass, which is for parks, not museums.) Use the program offered by the library that issued your card.
