Beacon Hill Branch
Set in one of Seattle's most culturally rich neighborhoods — recognized by the American Planning Association as one of America's Great Places — the Beacon Hill Branch greets visitors through a canopied stone entry and displays original writing by neighborhood residents on its walls and on the quarry rocks outside. A wind-activated boat sculpture titled "Dream Ship" animates the exterior, reflecting a community shaped by generations of Chinese, Vietnamese, Filipino, and other immigrant families.

📖 About Beacon Hill Branch
Beacon Hill is a Southeast Seattle neighborhood bounded by I-5, I-90, and Rainier Avenue South, with commanding views of Elliott Bay and Mount Rainier. Its population has long been majority Asian — over 51 percent in recent census counts — with significant Chinese, Vietnamese, and Filipino communities along Beacon Avenue South, and the neighborhood was named one of the nation's 30 Great Places in America by the American Planning Association in 2012. The branch reopened in 2005 as a new building constructed under the Libraries for All capital program. Its design includes a canopied stone entry, interior display of writing by neighborhood residents, quarry-rock installations outside, and the wind-activated "Dream Ship" sculpture. The branch is accessible by both bus and Link light rail.
