Lake City Branch
Anchoring Northeast Seattle's municipal center alongside Albert Davis Park, the Lake City Branch rebuilt in 2006 under the Libraries for All bond serves one of the city's most linguistically diverse communities — with collections spanning seven languages including Amharic, Somali, Oromo, and Tigrinya. A weekly farmers market sets up just outside its doors each summer, making the library the social heart of Lake City's commercial corridor.

📖 About Lake City Branch
Lake City — annexed by Seattle in 1954 after growing as an independent automobile-oriented suburb — is a northeast neighborhood that has evolved into one of the city's most culturally varied communities. The branch was rebuilt and reopened in 2006 as part of the "Libraries for All" capital program funded by a $196 million bond measure Seattle voters approved in 1998 with 69 percent support. The exterior features public artwork by sculptor George Tsutakawa, whose work appears throughout Seattle's civic spaces. Inside, multilingual collections in Amharic, Chinese, Oromo, Russian, Somali, Spanish, and Tigrinya reflect the neighborhood's immigrant population, and the building incorporates meeting rooms, study rooms, and fully accessible facilities.
