📖 About Alief-David M. Henington Regional Library

Named for David M. Henington, who served as Houston Public Library director for 26 years and grew the system from 13 to 35 branches and from 900,000 to over 4 million volumes, this regional library opened in the Alief community in 1985. It shares a campus with the Houston Parks Department's indoor and outdoor recreational facilities and a Houston Health Department suite that includes a WIC office, senior center, and DAWN facility — a true multi-service anchor for the southwest Houston community. In 1996, the branch became one of HPL's earliest locations to offer free public internet access, and today its TECHLink Alief makerspace provides equipment for digital artistry, music, and video production.
