📖 About Kahului Public Library
Opened on February 9, 1963 and originally designed by architect Noboru Kobayashi, the Kahului Public Library serves as the regional headquarters library and Federal Depository for Maui within the statewide Hawaiʻi State Public Library System. The branch closed in 2020 for a comprehensive overhaul that replaced the air-conditioning system, restrooms and flooring, and added fresh paint, improved lighting, new furniture and updated signage. It celebrated a public reopening on July 12, 2025 with community remarks, a Hawaiian blessing, live music and dance.
