📖 About Lāhainā Public Library
Located at 680 Wharf Street beside the Lahaina waterfront, the Lāhainā Public Library was destroyed in the August 8, 2023 wildfire that swept through the historic town, leaving the building a total loss with only its walls standing. The branch remains closed with no public hours, and as of 2026 a rebuild is still in the planning stage, with Maui County reviewing the fate of the damaged historic structure. In the meantime, the Hawaiʻi State Public Library System partnered with the Hawaiʻi State Judiciary to bring the Holoholo Bookmobile to the Lahaina District Court each Tuesday, offering books, storytimes, Wi-Fi and digital help to displaced residents.
