Enoch Pratt Free Library is the public library system for Baltimore City, Maryland. Founded in 1882 through a gift from merchant Enoch Pratt, it was among the first truly free public libraries in America — open to all residents regardless of race or social standing from its very first day. Baltimore City is an independent city, legally separate from Baltimore County, and the Pratt serves the city exclusively across 22 locations including the historic Central Library on Cathedral Street.

The Central Library was designated the State Library Resource Center for Maryland in 1971, giving it a statewide reference role alongside its local mission.
