The Orleans Street Branch of the Enoch Pratt Free Library has served East Baltimore's working neighborhoods for over 135 years. It began as the Broadway Branch in 1888, just two years after the Pratt system opened, located at North Broadway and Miller streets. By 1971 it had relocated to the Broadway and Orleans streets intersection, and in 2007 the branch moved again to its current corner location at Orleans Street and Central Avenue in the heart of Oldtown. The building features an outdoor Wi-Fi zone — rare among city branches — alongside meeting rooms, teen and children's areas, and public computers. Like all Pratt branches, it is backed by a card that opens Maryland's Digital Library via Libby, hoopla streaming, and the Pratt's extensive research databases, carrying forward Enoch Pratt's 1882 vision of a library 'for all, rich and poor without distinction of race or color.'
