The Roland Park Branch opened on June 10, 1924 on Roland Avenue, serving the planned garden-suburb community of Roland Park and the surrounding North Central Baltimore neighborhoods of Mount Washington, Cross Keys, Homeland, Guilford, and Cheswolde. Its survival is itself part of its story: in 1965, when the building was threatened with demolition, local residents organized in opposition and won a comprehensive renovation instead of a teardown. That community-driven rescue set the tone for a branch that leans heavily into programming, including a monthly film series and activities for all ages. Inside, visitors find dedicated children's and teen sections, public computers, free Wi-Fi, self check-out, and reservable meeting rooms. The building is ADA accessible and continues to serve as a gathering place for one of Baltimore's most tight-knit neighborhoods.
