📖 About Natrona County Library

Natrona County Library traces its roots to 1905, when Casper Mayor Wilson Kimball petitioned the Andrew Carnegie Foundation for a library grant. The resulting Carnegie building opened in 1910 with classical masonry and three distinctive domes; remnants of that original stonework are still visible at the corner of 2nd and Durbin streets. Expansions followed in the early 1920s and again in 1952, and in 1970 a final modern addition replaced the original structure at the same prominent downtown address. Today the library serves Casper and the wider county from its main branch — with a second location in Edgerton — and packs an unusually broad range of amenities into a single community space. Cardholders can reserve soundproof business pods for focused work, record video or podcasts in The Studio, consult a telehealth provider in the private booth, borrow seeds from the Seed Library, or check out tools and equipment from the Library of Things.
