📖 About Cherry Hill Public Library

Cherry Hill Public Library traces its roots to 1957, when the Delaware Township Library Association was established, followed a year later by the opening of the Delaware Township Free Public Library in a former courtroom near the police station — with 2,000 books and two evenings of service per week. By 1961 a move to an air-conditioned storefront in Ellisburg Shopping Center boosted circulation to 1,000 books a day, and in 1966 the library moved into a new $400,000 building designed by architect Malcolm Wells that could hold 150,000 volumes. In 1995 Cherry Hill became Camden County's first municipality to offer public internet access. The current 72,000-square-foot facility opened in December 2004 with a grand opening attended by 10,000 visitors and remains an agency of the Township's municipal government. Today the library offers a Genealogy Research Center, a robust Library of Things, museum pass lending, 3D printing, a seed library and a full slate of youth and adult programming.
