📖 About Milford Public Library
The Milford Public Library traces its roots to the fall of 1907, when the Columbian Reading Circle spearheaded the formation of the Milford Public Library Associates and the community hosted a 'book shower' to stock the first collection in the waiting room of the Winona Interurban station inside the Hotel Milford. In 1916 the board secured a $10,000 grant from the Andrew Carnegie Fund and contracted with Milford, Van Buren, and East Jefferson Townships for ongoing support. The library relocated to its current address at 330 Family Drive in 2003, having doubled its space in a 1995 expansion to 4,409 additional square feet. Today it holds over 16 public computers, quiet study rooms, a 75-person community room, and three special collections: a genealogy collection, an autism resource collection, and the Art Geyer Civil War Collection of materials dating to the late 1800s. Part of The Library Network (TLN), a cooperative of 65 southeast Michigan libraries, a Milford card also opens up statewide MeL digital resources and the Michigan Activity Pass program.
