📖 About Casa de Oro Library

The Casa de Oro Library is a branch of the San Diego County Library (SDCL), the countywide system serving San Diego's unincorporated communities, and it is separate from the City of San Diego's San Diego Public Library. For years the branch operated from a leased storefront at 9805 Campo Road; in September 2026 it moved a short distance to a new stand-alone building at 9610 Campo Road in the Casa de Oro-Mount Helix area of Spring Valley. The roughly 12,000-square-foot library was built with sustainability in mind — solar panels, EV charging and a target of LEED Gold certification — and adds a 2,000-square-foot community room, dedicated children's and teen areas, adult and teen study rooms, two outdoor patios, high-speed computers with 3D printing, and six commissioned public artworks. A single free SDCL card borrowed here unlocks reciprocal borrowing across all county branches and the system's full digital collection.
