📖 About Portneuf District Library

Portneuf District Library is an independent public library district serving Chubbuck, Idaho and parts of Bannock County. Chubbuck, a city of roughly 15,000 that borders Pocatello to the north, has its own district library separate from the adjacent Pocatello city library system. The Portneuf library takes its name from the Portneuf River, which flows through the valley and through the heart of Pocatello before joining the Snake River — a waterway central to the region's history as a Shoshone-Bannock travel corridor and later a key route for Oregon Trail emigrants. The library provides books, films, audiobooks, databases, and digital resources including access to Libby via OverDrive and the statewide IDEA eBook collection. It offers dedicated children's (Kid's Corner) and teen (Teen Zone) spaces, proctoring services for remote exams, and an active program calendar for all ages.
