Aberdeen District Library at 76 East Central Avenue is the only public library in Bingham County's farm town of Aberdeen — a community of potato fields and family farms on the upper Snake River plain. Aberdeen District Library is the public library of Aberdeen, Idaho, a small city in Bingham County on the Snake River plain about 20 miles west of Pocatello. Aberdeen sits in the heart of Idaho's agricultural heartland, surrounded by potato, grain and dairy farms that have defined the region since the completion of irrigation canals in the early twentieth century. The library operates as an Idaho district library, governed by an elected board and funded by district property taxes — a governance model that gives it an independent charter to serve all residents of the Aberdeen library district.
