📖 About Barnett Branch

The Barnett Branch anchors the Livingston Avenue corridor on Columbus's East Side, near the Eastland area. It opened its doors in December 2025 as one of the newest buildings in Columbus Metropolitan Library's ongoing construction program. Built on the footprint of the previous branch, the new facility nearly doubled the old library's size, growing from roughly 12,300 square feet to about 22,000 square feet. The branch was known for years as the Livingston Branch before being renamed Barnett in 2019. Its light-filled, modern design was created to give surrounding neighborhoods a larger, more welcoming gathering place, with expanded space for children, teens, study, meetings and public technology. It replaced a facility that had served the community since 1992.
