The Driving Park Branch serves the near-east-side neighborhood that takes its name from a 19th-century horse and automobile racing complex. Its current building opened in 2015 as the first newly constructed branch under Columbus Metropolitan Library's "20/20 Vision" facilities plan — the system's first major building program in a quarter century. The design earned a James B. Recchie Design Award from the Columbus Landmarks Foundation, recognizing architecture that gives the community a distinctive, light-filled civic space. Inside, families find a dedicated children's area, homework help, public computers and meeting space, while the branch continues a long tradition of neighborhood service on East Livingston Avenue. It operates as one of more than 20 locations in the Columbus Metropolitan Library system across Franklin County.
