📖 About Ruiz Branch
The Ruiz Branch, officially the Daniel E. Ruiz Branch, sits at 1600 Grove Boulevard in southeast Austin's Pleasant Valley area, within Council District 3. Its lineage runs back to the Montopolis Branch that opened in November 1968; that branch later became the Riverside Drive Branch before Austin voters approved a replacement in a 1998 bond. The current, much larger facility opened in January 2004 as the Daniel E. Ruiz Branch, one of the biggest APL branches built to that point. The branch reflects the surrounding Spanish-speaking community, hosting ESL classes and cultural programming, and offers a Passport Office with Spanish-language help. Unlike many APL branches, Ruiz is open seven days a week, including Sunday afternoons. Meeting room reservations and printing services round out its offerings.
