📖 About Giles County Public Library
The Giles County Public Library at 122 South Second Street is the county's primary public library and a hub for lifelong learning in south-central Tennessee. The library was made possible by a donation from C.A. Craig, a founder of the former National Life and Accident Insurance Company, and is governed by a private board funded through public and private donations, grants, and county appropriations. It holds more than 53,000 volumes and circulates nearly 90,000 items per year, with Director Cindy Nesbitt overseeing operations. The library also houses the Giles County Historical Society collection — one of middle Tennessee's most significant local genealogy and history archives — though the Historical Society room is temporarily closed through most of 2026 due to a major library expansion project that began January 2026. Branch locations in Lynnville and Elkton extend service across the county.
