📖 About Agness Community Library
The Agness Community Library is the public library for Agness, a small unincorporated community of about 136 residents along the lower Rogue River in Curry County, Oregon — accessible only by boat or a long winding road through the Siskiyou mountains. The library is housed in the former Agness Elementary School building, which closed in 2010 as the community's young population declined; the space was repurposed into a welcoming community gathering place and library. A renovation project funded in part by a grant from the Judith Ann Morgan Foundation has refreshed the building in recent years. In April 2017, the Agness Library District joined the Coastline system — a consortium combining Curry County and Coos County libraries — giving its small collection of 8,300 volumes access to Aspen Discovery's shared catalog and Koha's automation tools. The library hosts an annual triathlon fundraiser that benefits both the library and the local volunteer fire department, reflecting the tight-knit character of this riverside community.
