Cheektowaga is a suburban town of about 75,000 residents in Erie County, New York, immediately east of the city of Buffalo, with a name derived from the Seneca word for 'land of the crabapple tree.' The Julia Boyer Reinstein Library at 1030 Losson Road between Union Road and Borden Road is one of the busiest branch locations in the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library (B&ECPL) System, which serves all of Erie County with a collection of millions of items spread across dozens of branches. The library is named in honor of Julia Boyer Reinstein, a legendary Erie County Clerk who served for 36 years and was known as the most popular politician in Erie County history — a beloved public servant who championed civic engagement and community service until her death in 1999.
