The Sullivan Free Library is the public library chartered to serve all residents of the Town of Sullivan in Madison County, New York. The town takes its name from General John Sullivan, whose 1779 campaign through central New York was a turning point in the Revolutionary War. The library operates two locations: the primary branch at 101 Falls Boulevard in the village of Chittenango — seat of town government and home to Chittenango Falls State Park — and a second branch in the hamlet of Bridgeport to the northwest. Together they hold more than 70,000 books, 7,000 audiovisual materials, and 1,500 periodicals serving a community of approximately 15,339 residents. As part of the Mid-York Library System, a cooperative network of 43 member libraries spanning Madison, Oneida, and Herkimer counties, a Sullivan Free Library card opens the door to the entire shared catalog and interlibrary loan from any participating branch.
