📖 About Adams Street Library
For decades, residents of DUMBO, Vinegar Hill, the Brooklyn Navy Yard corridor, and the Farragut Houses had no neighborhood library. Adams Street Library changed that on October 12, 2021, when Brooklyn Public Library opened its 60th branch in a repurposed portion of a landmarked 1901 industrial building at 9 Adams Street. The $7.2 million project was designed by New York firm WORKac following extensive community outreach, which revealed a strong need for children's learning spaces. The 6,500-square-foot branch centers a bright, open children's area, while two large murals by Dumbo-based design studio Link By Air celebrate the building's industrial past. Fifteen-foot factory windows flood the space with light and frame views toward Brooklyn Bridge Park.
