📖 About Cranford Public Library
The library's origins reach back to 1880 with the Cranford Library Organization, a subscription library that later donated its 1,061-volume collection to the Wednesday Morning Club. In 1907 three women's clubs — the Wednesday Morning Club, the Village Improvement Association, and the Progress Club — founded the Cranford Free Public Library Association with the mission of making books freely available to all residents. Cranford's voters approved a tax-supported library referendum, and on December 2, 1908, township trustees were appointed; in 1910 the distinctive Carnegie building opened on Miln Street. Today the library holds more than 100,000 titles in print, digital, and multimedia formats and maintains multilingual collections in Russian, Polish, and Spanish. It belongs to the Library of the MidAtlantic (LMXAC) consortium and offers free eBook access through eLibraryNJ and the Cranford catalog at crf.search.stellanj.org.
