The North Las Vegas Library at 2250 Las Vegas Boulevard North is the founding branch of the North Las Vegas Library District, opened in 1966 as the city's first public library. The district has since grown to three full-service locations: the original North Las Vegas Library, the Aliante Library (opened May 2006, adjacent to the Aliante Nature Discovery Park), and the Alexander Library (opened March 2009). All three serve a city of more than 260,000 residents that is among the fastest-growing in Nevada. The main library provides public access computers, adult and children's programming, meeting rooms, books, DVDs, magazines and newspapers, plus free Wi-Fi and downloadable media. Cardholders also gain access to Libby for ebooks and audiobooks and to the Nevada State Library and Archives' statewide database subscriptions, including EBSCO, Salem Press, and digital newspaper archives.
