The Kirkwood Public Library is the independent public library serving the residents of Kirkwood, Missouri, an inner-ring St. Louis County suburb. Established in 1924, it holds the distinction of being the first tax-funded public library in St. Louis County and marked its centennial in 2024. The library is a member of the Municipal Library Consortium of St. Louis County (MLC), a partnership of nine independently operated municipal libraries formed in 1996 that share a single catalog, so a Kirkwood card also borrows at Brentwood, Ferguson, Maplewood, Richmond Heights, Rock Hill, University City, Valley Park and Webster Groves.
