Meridian Library District has served the Meridian community since the original library was established in 1924 by the Occident Club, with voters formally creating the Meridian Free Library District in 1974. Today the district operates five public branch locations plus specialty services across one of the fastest-growing cities in the country — Meridian surpassed 130,000 residents and became Idaho's third-largest city in the 2020s. The Orchard Park Branch at 1268 W Orchard Park Dr is currently the primary flagship location, featuring an adaptable learning lab for literacy and STEAM education, a sensory room with gentle lighting and tactile features designed for neurodiverse visitors, and a 24-hour hold-pickup access point. Note: the Cherry Lane Branch at 1326 W Cherry Lane is temporarily closed for a major renovation project (projected reopening Winter 2026/2027).
