📖 About Coeur d'Alene Public Library
The Coeur d'Alene Public Library is the public library of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, the lakeside seat of Kootenai County in the state's northern panhandle. Its roots reach back to 1904, when the Coeur d'Alene Woman's Club organized to sponsor a public library that opened April 10, 1905, with 235 donated books; the city assumed responsibility in 1909. After stints on Lakeside Avenue and a converted Harrison Avenue building, the library moved in September 2007 into its current two-story home at 702 E Front Avenue — a 38,500-square-foot Architects West design in brick and stone with a classic Northwest lodge look, home to the Shirley Parker Children's Theater and the Nelson Memorial Room. The library is a member of InlandShare, a consortium of North Idaho and Eastern Washington libraries that share a single card and catalog, so a Coeur d'Alene card borrows and requests delivery across more than a dozen member libraries.
