📖 About La Mesa Library
The La Mesa Library is part of the San Diego County Library (SDCL) system and serves the East County city of La Mesa, which incorporated in 1912. Library service in the community dates to the 1910s, and the branch has long stood near the heart of La Mesa Village at 8074 Allison Avenue — a street named for pioneer stockman Robert Allison, drawn to the area's springs in 1869. The current building opened in 2008; the City of La Mesa owns the land and the building, while San Diego County operates the library and supplies its collection. As a San Diego County Library branch, a La Mesa card borrows across the whole county system, and the branch is one of the relatively few in the system open all seven days, including Sunday.
