📖 About Buena Vista Branch Library
The Buena Vista Branch Library has served the northwest Burbank community since February 1948, when branch librarian Carolyn See opened the doors with a collection of 3,929 cataloged books. The branch expanded from 5,000 to 8,000 square feet in 1958, and after decades of heavy use the City and the Friends of the Burbank Public Library each contributed $75,000 toward an entirely new building — dedicated on December 7, 2002, at 300 N. Buena Vista Street next to Abraham Lincoln Park. That facility tripled the original footprint and drove a 135% increase in circulation in its first year alone. Today it is one of three locations in the Burbank Public Library system, which celebrated its centennial in 2013 and went fine-free in 2020 to improve equitable access for all residents. The branch offers a dedicated children's department and study rooms, and is part of a system that has offered free internet access since 2000.
