📖 About Burbank Central Library
Burbank Public Library traces its origins to May 1913, when the city first contracted with the Los Angeles County Library for service — making it one of the older public library systems in Southern California. It became an independent municipal library on July 1, 1938, and the current Central Library at 110 N. Glenoaks Boulevard was dedicated November 17, 1963, replacing a much smaller building and providing more than four times the floor space. Burbank is known as the 'Media Capital of the World' — Warner Bros., Disney, NBC, and other major entertainment studios are headquartered here — and the library reflects that creative community through extensive programming and its 'Burbank in Focus' digital collection of more than 3,500 historical photographs. The library went fine-free in 2020 to improve access equity. In addition to the Central Library, the Burbank Public Library system operates two branch locations: Buena Vista Branch (300 N. Buena Vista St.) and Northwest Branch (3323 W. Victory Blvd.). A nearly $10 million grant is supporting construction of a modernized Central Library facility.
