The Payson Public Library is the flagship branch of the Gila County Library District, located inside Payson's Rumsey Park recreational complex on North McLane Road. The library's celebrated Seed Library lets cardholders borrow packets of edible-plant seeds — fruits, vegetables, and herbs — and return saved seeds after the harvest, supporting the high-elevation gardening community of the Rim Country at 4,900 feet. Four individual study rooms accommodate one-on-one tutoring, exam prep, and focused remote work, while bookable meeting rooms host community workshops and organizational gatherings. Programming is underwritten in part by the Friends of the Library of Payson, Inc., a volunteer organization that funds youth story times and adult events such as the annual Book Page Leaves celebration.
