📖 About Community Library Sedona
Community Library Sedona is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit public library founded in 1958 by a group of Sedona residents who pooled three shelves of donated books and magazines in a borrowed space. Governed by a volunteer board of trustees since 1964, it moved to a permanent home on Jordan Road in 1969 and dedicated its current 25,500-square-foot building on October 1, 1994 — the same day the city unveiled Sedona's first Art in Public Places commission: a 10-foot bronze portrait of pioneer Sedona Miller Schnebly, by sculptor Susan Kliewer, which stands at the library entrance today. A 10,000-square-foot outdoor courtyard was added in 2022, and a second branch in the Village of Oak Creek opened in 2005. The library relies on roughly 16,000 hours of volunteer service each year and offers more than 600 annual programs — from children's STEM workshops and storytimes to adult book clubs, writing workshops, chess clubs, language conversation groups, and sewing guilds. Through the Yavapai Library Network, cardholders share access to over 1.3 million physical and digital resources.
