Camp Verde Community Library opened its current 17,000-square-foot building on November 5, 2016, replacing a facility that had served the town since 1975 — and was the first building constructed by the Town of Camp Verde since its incorporation in 1985. Designed by architect Joel Westervelt, the structure draws on the Verde Valley's agricultural heritage: walls and roof of corrugated metal, a base of authentic Verde River rock that lifts the building above the floodplain, thick thermal mass walls, bronze panels featuring inspirational authors, a ridge skylight, and a rainwater-harvesting observatory tower topped with a rooftop deck fitted with telescopes. Nearly $1 million in community donations helped fund its construction. As a member of the 59-library Yavapai Library Network, a single Camp Verde card grants access to more than one million shared items across Yavapai County. The library's on-site Camp Verde Adult Reading Program (CVARP) — operating since 1988 — offers free GED preparation, ESL, and ASVAB classes Monday through Thursday.
