📖 About Teton County Library
Teton County Library was established in 1938, initially housed in a room within the log-cabin American Legion Hall in downtown Jackson, Wyoming. After relocating to King Street and then Hansen Avenue, the library moved to its current home at the corner of Virginian Lane and Snow King Avenue. In 2013 a voter-approved renovation funded by a Specific Purpose Excise Tax added a dedicated Youth Wing and earned the building LEED Gold certification for sustainable design. The library serves approximately 25,000 year-round residents, seasonal workers, and millions of regional visitors annually. Its collections include the Jackson Hole and Western Americana Collection alongside general holdings. The WonderLab community makerspace — equipped with 3D printers, a Glowforge laser cutter, Cricut Maker, sewing and embroidery machines, and a recording studio — is open to any active Wyoming library cardholder. An Alta Branch Library opened in 2009 on the eastern side of the Teton Range.

How did the current library building come to be, and what is LEED Gold?
In 2013, Teton County voters approved a Specific Purpose Excise Tax to fund a major renovation of the library at Virginian Lane and Snow King Avenue. The project added a dedicated Youth Wing and achieved LEED Gold certification — a green building standard recognizing high performance in energy, water, materials, and indoor environmental quality. The library first opened in this location after earlier homes in the log-cabin American Legion Hall (1938), on King Street, and on Hansen Avenue.
