Magdalena, New Mexico sits at 6,548 feet in Socorro County, flanked by the Magdalena Mountains and the vast Plains of San Agustin. The town grew up as a ranching and mining hub in the late 1800s; the famous Magdalena Stock Driveway once carried cattle across the plains to the railhead here.
