📖 About Humphreys County Library
Humphreys County Library has been serving residents of this Mississippi Delta community continuously since 1965, committed to educating, enriching, and entertaining patrons regardless of age, race, or socioeconomic background. Belzoni, the Humphreys County seat, sits on the Yazoo River in the heart of the Delta — a region where roughly 40,000 acres of ponds grow more farm-raised catfish than anywhere else in the United States, earning the county its designation as the Catfish Capital of the World in 1976. The library positions itself as a modern community town square, combining a robust circulating collection of books, large-print titles, DVDs, audiobooks, and board games with 21st-century additions including in-house PS5 and Nintendo Switch gaming stations, public computer and technology access, and three Little Free Libraries placed in the outlying communities of Louise, Silver City, and Isola. A Story Walk approximately half a mile from the building encourages outdoor reading year-round. The library is supported by funding from the Mississippi Library Commission and the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services, and offers statewide MAGNOLIA research databases and LearningExpress Library practice tests and tutorials free to all cardholders.
